Powder Coating Types

Powder Coating Types

Electrostatic Powder Paint is divided into various types according to its usage areas and purposes.

epoxy
Its formula contains epoxy type resin and suitable hardener. It is used when resistance to chemical substances is desired. Gasoline tanks in particular can be cited as an example in this regard. These types of paints have low resistance to heat and light. It is also used as a primer when high corrosion resistance is required.

Epoxy-Polyester
It contains epoxy and polyester resin. It is a type of paint developed to provide both physical and chemical resistance properties. It is used in indoor conditions. It is an inevitable solution especially for the white goods industry. In addition, home/office lighting devices, metal furniture, hospital equipment, towel rails, radiators, armatures and shower cabins can also be painted with this type of paint. Although it is stronger in terms of heat and light resistance than epoxy type paints, it is less resistant than the exterior polyester paints we will see later.

Polyester
Polyester/TGIC: It contains polyester resin and TGIC hardener. It is exterior paint. It is especially recommended for aluminum window and door profiles. In case of correct design and use, it can withstand sunlight and other climatic conditions for up to 10 years. Main areas of use; aluminum profile industry, agricultural machinery, bicycles, rims, lighting fixtures.

Polyester/Primide: It contains polyester resin and pyrimide hardener. It is exterior paint. It is used for exterior facades, especially architectural applications, where color and brightness loss is not desired. Recommended for aluminum window and door profiles. With correct application conditions, it can last for 10-15 years depending on climatic conditions like other PT. While products containing TGIC receive certain labeling marks according to European Union norms, Primid products do not have any markings. PRIMID, which has a wide usage area, especially in the European market, is TGIC's strongest competitor.

Polyurethane
Its formula contains polyester resin and suitable (isocyanate) hardener. It is highly resistant to abrasion, moisture and salt testing. (Compared to other polyester exterior products, it provides chemical resistance as well as UV resistance.) It can be used in automotive, bathroom accessories and garden products.

Acrylic
It is especially preferred in the automotive industry. They are very strong, durable paints. However, due to its incompatibility with other types of resins and contamination, it is not produced in facilities where other types of paints are produced. For this reason, this product is not included in the Pulver Kimya product range.
